The Darkness

Every night
In the cover of dark
I come out
I crawl from beneath your bed
Behind your wardrobe
From the far reaches of your closet
To sit and watch
I watch you
The steady rhythm of your breathing
Moving the mass of blankets laying upon you
Your still, dead look
I watch wondering what dreams your mind is conjuring up
To shield you from the horrid world going on without you
I sit and watch
I watch everyone
It is my life sentence
To watch in the silence
Never experiencing the joys of the daylight.
