Grief

Why am I crying?

Why are you?

Why is anyone?

Swim in my ocean of tears,

Lie on my shores of smooth glass.

Slide down, down, and down.

Let me paint you a watercolor

of loss and pain,

of grey charcoal mute.

Shall I draw it for you?

The jagged, raw lines of an open wound

In a downward spiral.

I am the artist they call Grief. Let me sketch the tear tracks on your face.
