i am an oak tree.  top                                                                                    heavy, supporting

other forms                                                            of life. facing in

the direction                 of the sun, but             casting a shadow                bigger than

me. weaving          myself into the ground, trying to                keep myself

upright. a strong   exterior, with many undiscovered

layers on the inside. wilting

& rising with the coming

& going of seasons. watching my

limbs turn yellow, knowing that

on the outside there’s no sign of

life. wilted leaves. sharp bark. being the only

one left, and wanting to be chopped down, therefore.
