Here’s to the Busy

Poem and Photography by Elizabeth Rom

Here’s to the busy with their tears unshed

Whose beautiful plans never leave their head

With lists of books still left unread

And previous hobbies now found dead

For your constant dwelling on things unsaid

And losing more and more time in bed

Slowly, I know, your anger is fed

Because what can you do but compare

To those who have time and are unaware

And go through life with less care

But to complain is something you don’t dare

For what can you do but leave behind

Things you love but still come to find

That you are people of a horrid kind

And fail at things even when given time

Here’s to the busy

With no time for tears

I promise you

Change draws near
